(PLANT ENGINEERING PROFESSIONALS)

Professional Engineer certification is a recognition of ones academic qualification and experience in conformity with the Industry and nationally acceptable standards. Engineering Council of India (ECI) has laid down the norms for Engineers Certification and registration as Professional Engineer jointly with Indian Institution of Plant Engineers (IIPE) being its member association.

BASIC REQUIREMENT

a) Bachelor Degree in Engineering / Technology or Equivalent from recognized University / Institution and approved by UGC/ MHRD/AICTE.

b) Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in Industry / consultancy/ firm / organization in key role involved in Design / Maintenance /Manufacturing/ Processing/ Quality/ Production/ Service / Application / R & D etc.

c) Life Member of IIPE to get certified jointly through IIPE in order to fullfil the continuous professional development (CPD) events

a) Can become Professional Engineer (P.Eng) of Engineering Council of India (ECI) through IIPE National Committee for Professional Engineers

b) Can earn Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Scores point by attending ECI & IIPE approved programmes.

ENTITLED AS PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER

a) Member is entitled to add the title Sr.P.E / P.E in abbreviated forms.

b) IIPE will issue Identity card to Registered Professional Engineer, PE Certificate and PE Seal

c) PE earn respect among engineering peers.

d) Registered PE names will be enlisted in the ECI website with their name, title, specialization

e) Due to higher technical competence level and Engineering Professional status makes them suitable for higher levels of authority and responsibility

VALIDITY

Professional Engineers registration is valid for 5 years. And it can be renewed after submission of proof of continuous professional development activities and credits (CPD credits)

RECOGNITION

In Government, Private contracts and Independent consultancy, reports given by PEs are valuable.

Registered Professional Engineers are governed by the Code of Ethics and they are required to follow the same while dealing with the public, clients,employers, employees and the associates.

Code of Ethics of Professional Engineers have specific articles covering (a) Social responsibility to uphold ethical values of the society (b) Responsibility to maintain high standards of professional quality (c) Obligation to maintain high standard of personal behaviour in a responsible manner.
